Barreista Be Well

I shared with you a couple weeks ago that I knew I was in need of some rest and last week it proved especially true. I felt extra tired all week long and by Friday night, after teaching a 6AM class and a 5PM class I was spent. We stayed in and relaxed and I was asleep before 9PM. This was fine by me between the exhaustive week, the long day and big plans for Saturday, the rest was much needed!

Our big plans for Saturday were taking us to Madison, WI. This is about 90 minutes from us. My mother in law is in a Skilled Nursing facility there while recovering from a fall and broken arm. This was the main reason for our trip, one we’ve been making at least once a week since her fall.

Since we were going to be making the trip on a Saturday we wanted to take advantage of a small slice of what Madison has to offer on the weekends. I’ve always wanted to check out their farmers market, which is usually around the Capitol Square. We also decided to check out a new to us yoga studio. Here’s a recap on our day!

It was a beautiful, warm day and we started out with an early class at Dragonfly Hot Yoga in downtown Madison. The studio was bright and welcoming. I’d heard great things about Dragonfly and was excited to try it out. I love checking out new studios and Dragonfly did not disappoint! We took an hour hot flow with Emily, who led a thoughtful and energetic flow. The studio had a tea lounge, great retail options and showers! I really appreciate a studio with showers after a class like hot yoga. In advance of our visit Dragonfly was really helpful in providing information on the studio, classes and what to expect. Thanks for a great experience, Dragonfly! We will definitely be back.

After yoga we refueled at Frutta Bowls on State Street. We shared an avocado toast and this delicious smoothie bowl. I really wish we had a location here in Oak Creek. What do you say Frutta Bowls??

Then we were off to the farmers market. As I mentioned, it’s usually on the Capitol Square, but there was an art fest going on there this particular weekend (seriously no shortage of fun to be had in Madison), so it was moved to a nearby park. It was very hot, but the farmers market offered beautiful flowers and some amazing fresh vegetables. I picked up zucchini, sugar snap peas and some micro greens. We picked out a pretty bouquet of flowers and a few additional veggies to bring to my MIL. Turns out that our Madison Barre District Studio is right next to the park that the farmers market was relocated to for this particular day so we stopped by there, too. We didn’t make it in time to see my #barrebesties but I definitely plan to stop back on one of my next trips to Madison.

Finally we stopped to pick up lunch and head to visit my mother in law. I know she appreciated having something other than the rehab facility food and we were able to get her outside for a while. We all enjoyed the nice weather and I’m grateful we were able to help brighten up my MIL’s day.

Finally, let me leave you with this thought. “The greatest wealth is health.”
