Resting, Not Quitting

That saying, “learn to rest, not to quit”, is 100% accurate and 100% difficult for me. Although I wouldn’t count myself in the quitter category, I’m more “learn to rest”, great in theory but don’t do it category. I”m famous for over-booking, over-doing, over yes-ing and it’s left me completely exhausted if I’m being honest. Really, is there any other way to be? I don’t want to know!

Here is the run down on what’s been going on with me. Life and work have been busy. Working a 9-5 “day job”, teaching barre classes and working my side hustle with Barreista Be Well has left me spent. Mentally, physically and emotionally. I love it all, mostly, hence the over yes-ing, but I am not good at taking time to pause, recollect, reconsider, reevaluate. This my friends, is necessary.

Taking time to check in with myself and make sure I’m being the best version of me, so that I can be the best version of myself for those around me is so important. I do this in many ways, lots of which I’ve talked about in prior posts here on my blog and on my social media. However, I’ve been going through the motions rather than really doing the work.

A big part of Barreista Be Well is the encouragement and support I offer others through motivating wellness & accountability coaching. Did you know I did that? I extend those “good vibes” and support to my #barrebesties at the studio, always wanting to lift others up and help them in their journeys. It’s something I truly love and feel called to do. Well, I can’t do this well if I’m pouring from an empty cup.

So, stay tuned for some new blog posts about what I’m doing to help fill my cup back up, rest and get myself back on the right path.

I would be remiss if I didn’t give a big shout out to my favorite Booches!! We had such a fun weekend and I love that they traveled to Wisconsin to spend the weekend with me. I dragged them to every workout I could think of and will forever cherish the memories we made!
