Travel Well

I travel a lot, mostly for work, my day job that is and when possible for pleasure. Regardless of the trips purpose staying healthy on the road can be a challenge.  When I say healthy I'm talking fitness, nutrition, emotions and immunity.  It's the whole package for me.  Am I getting enough sleep, maybe not, because workouts are always a big priority for me and I'll wake up unusually early to squeeze them in.  I'm careful to pre-plan snacks and even meals when possible.  I know that may sound over the top, but I feel my best when I'm fueling my body with food it knows and trusts.  I go out of my way to make this happen on the road, just like I do in my day to day routine.

Here are my top 5 MUSTS when I travel.

PLAN AHEAD

This is first on my list because it's the most important.  I plan ahead in lots of ways.

I scope out restaurants that fit with my nutritional preferences.  I schedule my workouts.

I bring along a few items that help me keep to my routine as much as possible and that helps me emotionally and physically.  I never leave home without these faves!

Just the Essentials

I carry all my travel

roller balls here, never

leave home without!

Wireless Bose Headphones

New addition to my travel faves.

Sleep Mask

I use this at home and when I travel.

I have tried  several but absolutely love this one.

They come in a variety of beautiful solids and prints.

STAY HYDRATED

This seems pretty self explanatory, but it is important!  I always travel with my own reusable water bottle.  Either this one or this one,  pretty!  I make a conscious effort to minimize my plastic consumption when possible and this is a great way to do that.

Flying can really dehydrate you too, so drinking more water than usual is important!

A GOOD READ

Or a good listen...As much as I love an actual, physical book it can sometimes feel like one more thing to pack or carry.  Podcasts are great and I also love checking out audio books from my local public library.  Did you know you can do this?  It's so fantastic.  Go grab a library card and sign up with the Libby app to read or listen on the road.

RECHARGE

I have a separate little carrying case that I pack my chargers in when I hit the road.  I never want to be disconnected when I am traveling.  It is important for lots of reasons, one of which is my safety, knowing where I'm going and being able to listen to that audio book on a long flight.

KEEP IT CLEAN

Let me just keep it real, traveling can be gross.

I never leave home without hand sanitizer, flip flops or some kind of slipper to walk around my hotel room in and cleansing wipes.  I avoid touching or using the tray table at all cost, but if I have to, I want to wipe it down!  I could go on here, but I'll start to sound crazy(er?).  You get the point.

These are just a few of my musts!  What are yours?  I love learning new tips and tricks for when I travel, so I'd love to hear from you! And if you're reading this, go drink a glass of water. ; )
