Happy Earth Day!

Today we celebrate our beautiful planet earth. It’s one, not the only, thing we all have in common and should all care about.

Here are some simple ways you can celebrate our beautiful planet.

TURN IT OFF

Turn the water off when you are brushing your teeth. You can save up to eight gallons of water a day!

REDUCE, REUSE

Use a recyclable or reusable water bottle. I’m always sipping on water and whether it’s around my house or on the go I’m doing so out of a reusable water bottle. This is also one of my top travel tips! I always have one with me and here are a few of my favorites.

JUST ADD PLANTS

Okay, you don’t have to tell me twice! Plants help regulate the temperature in your home through the moisture they release into the air. This can help reduce the energy used to heat and cool your home, plus plants are great for air quality and they are beautiful to look at!

GO MEATLESS

Even if it’s just for a few meals a week, that is a start and this swap is good for the planet. There are so many resources for learning how minimizing your meat consumption can help protect our environment. Do your research!

UPCYCLE

I love to save jars that are empty, think sauces, pickles, etc and reuse them. I like to pickle my own vegetables and store them this way but my favorite use for them is to grow plant babies! You can always find a line of these on my kitchen windowsill.

These are just a few, easy ways you can start caring for our planet a little more. Being a smarter consumer is something that is near and dear to me. I eat mostly plant based and have worked hard to become more aware of what I’m consuming. That is not just with food, but products, clothing, etc. I try to reduce and reuse when and where I can. It’s not always perfect, but every little bit helps. You can start with baby steps and before you know it all those baby steps add up to a big impact for our planet. What one thing can you do today for a better tomorrow?
